Audlem Saints Under 10s played league leaders Red Dot FC on Sunday. With Saints going in to the match just a point behind in 2nd spot, it was always going to be a close game. The game was played in good spirits but was very keenly contested.

Both sides had chances to win it but the final 1-1 score line was probably fair. Audlem did hit the woodwork from a well struck free kick whilst Red Dot went close a couple of times from corners. The breakthrough went Red Dot's way when they broke quickly and finished clinically to get their noses in front.

Full credit to the Audlem boys though who kept up the work rate and finally got rewarded a couple of minutes from time. A super piece of midfield play was at the heart of the goal. The Audlem right-sided midfielder won the ball in a strong tackle, advanced quickly forward and then played a slide rule pass through to the Audlem striker. Class piece of play. The striker lifted the ball over the advancing keeper but was then brought down. The referee was saved from a big decision as the loose ball was smashed home by a late arriving Audlem player. A great goal and just reward for a very hard working display.

With exactly half the season gone, Audlem still lay 2nd by a single point.
