Robbery last night

I have to report that, sadly, 2/3 thieves struck my son's property at the Tithe Barn, Buerton, which is adjacent to my house.

The alarm was set off by them as they attempted to disconnect the siren using ladders they had taken from my long barns. Christopher went out and they fled. I joined him after receiving distress call from my daughter-in-law, Janis.

The police arrived at 4.20am, a prompt response, along with dogs. It was deduced that they had parked their getaway van in the unnamed lane to the rear of the field, crossed the field and cut an opening in the post and rail fence along with the barbed wire strands.

All in all there were three police cars here. The thieves stole a bike valued at £345 but did not manage to take the new motor cycle, though they tried. As part of their getaway plans, they had disabled the vehicles nearest to the exits by slashing and cutting the tyre valves to eliminate the chance of a chase.

Crime scene officers have taken prints etc. We urge all to take caution and ensure outbuildings are adequately protected. And if any one knows of suspects, then there is a reward of £150 for information that may lead to a successful prosecution.
