Yesterday was the busiest day ever on AudlemOnline with 4,836 visitors in the day, around 60% up on our previous best day in November 2013.

It was just over twice the average readership so far this month which was averaging almost 2,400 a day.

The cause was hardly difficult to spot as the statistics-addicted editor scanned the mass of figures available recording the readership of individual stories.

The vast majority of readers had, of course, clicked on to the Mend our Mum film of 1,100 local residents singing Amazing Grace. And, naturally, this story gives you another chance to watch this remarkable community film.

We were fortunate that there was a wealth of other important stories yesterday, notably Dr Michael Thornton and his father being recognised for their massive contribution to village life and the news of yesterday's planning hearing – see today's separate story for news of the result of that council meeting.

You can always check the readership figures by clicking on Visits Today at the bottom of the Homepage. They are updated every hour.

While we are delighted to have such a huge readership figure – on a scale we never envisaged when AudlemOnline started in 2005 and a hundred readers in a day was cause for celebration – we have to say it was an honour, and an immensely pleasurable one, to be the first to publish the Mend our Mum video.
