Just as yesterday it seemed unfair to pick out one Festival performance – that was Billy Gibbons at The Bridge – we are doing the same today with The Rainband at the Lord C.

This was mesmerising stuff – with possibly as large a crowd as at Billy's gig on Sunday – and this time blessed by sunshine.

Martin Finnigan, vocalist with the Rainband, guitarist Phil Rainey, drummer Steve Irlam, multi-instrumentalist Joe Wilson and Sam Wilson on bass, were on fire.

Martin Finnigan even had time to put out an appeal for a dog missing its owner. He also found a new star on tambourine, possibly now the 6th member of the band, young festival goer Cooper, that's spelt C-O-O-P-E-R as the very young man informed us and the band, to rousing cheers.

Our apologies, we couldn't quite catch young Cooper with the tambourine for our photo as getting to the front through the huge crowds was quite a challenge!

The Rainband perform at major festivals such as Glastonbury and regularly tour the UK and major European venues. And yet, ever since 2011, they have been back to Audlem every year.

And judging by the great big smiles yesterday as their performance built to an amazing crescendo, Audlem loved them! And we suspect, The Rainband loved Audlem.
