Geoff Oakes received this reply from the Chief Executive's Office of the Post Office. Should more members of our village Community write to complain to reinforce our concern?

Dear Mr Oakes

Thank you for your email of 29 September addressed to Paula Vennells, Chief Executive, Post Office Limited, regarding Audlem Post Office. As Network Transformation Issues Manager, I am replying on Paula's behalf.

First and foremost, thank you for your concern and interest in Audlem Post Office. I fully appreciate the role that this branch has played within the community and the high esteem in which it was held. I would like to assure you of our ongoing commitment to restoring a Post Office service to the community of Audlem.

We are currently advertising the availability of a Post Office position in Audlem, but as with all of our vacancies, we are dependent on a member of the business community coming forward to express an interest in taking on the branch.

We are in continued discussions to install a Temporary Postmaster to reinstate Post Office services in the meantime but, at this stage, this cannot be guaranteed.

Our Field Team will be visiting the area soon in order to establish if there is any local interest in taking on the branch.

In closing, I do understand the uncertainty that the community is experiencing at this time and that this has been a long process, but I would like to thank you for your ongoing patience in this matter as we try to find a solution.

Yours sincerely,
Debbie Longmate
