Yesterday's statement to the BBC, reported on AudlemOnline immediately after Lamont Howie's report on BBC Radio Stoke, offers more than a glimmer of hope for the village's post office service.
Post Office Limited said they apologised for the temporary closure of Audlem Post Office. They said they were working hard to restore the service as soon as possible and confirmed that they planned to maintain a presence in the village. They hoped that something would be in place by the middle of May.
As we reported yesterday afternoon, Lamont Howie had also spoken with Andrew Smith, who confirmed this was the case and the Post Office had told him they wished to maintain a presence in the village, hopefully in the same premises.
We are sure that all interested in this important issue will be looking to Audlem MP Antoinette Sandbach, Cheshire East, Audlem Parish Council, neighbouring councils and anyone else who can help to keep a close eye on the situation and apply whatever pressure they can on Post Office Limited to resume services in the village as soon as possible.
