The Parish Council and Turnpike Field Working Group are pleased to report that Cheshire Wildlife Trust and their designated contractors will commence installing three ponds in the week commencing 27th January.

Please don't be alarmed when you see a digger on site! Signs will be displayed at each entrance point of the field warning the works are in progress. Please can we ask residents to be careful, particularly when walking dogs.

These ponds will provide a sanctuary for great crested newts and encourage flora and fauna in the area and will be managed for 25 years by a habitat specialist who will visit regularly. They are another initiative implemented to encourage wildlife to thrive in the area. Others that have already taken place are the bird and bat boxes recently installed on trees in the field and tree surgeons have tended to the trees, ensuring they are in optimum health and made safe for residents using the field.

An annual maintenance and enhancement plan has also been prepared setting out a calendar of work so we can proactively manage the field going forward.
