ADCA were one of the three Audlem good causes that were successful in getting funding at the "You Decide" event at Nantwich Civic Hall last Saturday.

A great turnout from Audlem at Nantwich Civic Hall on Saturday ensured a strong vote in support of ADCA's successful bid for additional money to run our day club in the new Public Hall Annexe from the autumn as well as to continue a club at Hankelow Chapel.

Some said we couldn't fit our presentation into the allotted 3 minutes- but our secret weapon was our resident poet, Jessie, who got a prolonged round of applause- and we still finished just about on time!!

It was Jessie's poem wot' won it on the day! you can read the poem below.

A sincere thank you from all at ADCA for everyone's support. Also huge thanks to Roland Hall and the amazing APHAx team who have worked so hard to achieve the new building for everyone, and to the AoL team for helping to get the vote out.

We will need even more volunteers to help us in the new Annexe and at Hankelow Chapel including voluntary drivers- so if you aspire to be a recycled teenager or are just an ageing hippy and can spare a few hours each month- then contact us on 01270 747163. We'll be really pleased to tell you all about how much fun volunteering for ADCA is!

The poem – On Being a Member of ADCA

As you can see, I'm an old age pensioner
Too proud to tell you my age!
But I can tell you this –
Old age doesn't phase me any more
And I'm living a very pleasant life –

Because:

I have the ADCA team to take care of me!
with the clubs they provide – a lifeline!
They have made me look ahead
Made me fell alive again!

Some of my days were never ending
But since ADCA have taken me under their wing
My days, when I meet friends, fly!
Loneliness has become a far off fact
And I look forward, not back

Our meetings become a family affair,
We have singalongs, activities, share memories
Stories, poems and care
We forget our greying locks and our moans and groans
The joy of life returns – recycled teenagers!

What we need, is all there for us to embrace
If given the chance –
At our meetings, our happy hours,
In the care of the ADCA team.
