We recently received this from our local poet Jessie. It arrived before the Manchester atrocities, but we thought it particularly poignant at this time.
Is there no end to the unrest in this world of ours?
No way out – no thought of peace-
Peace among man – nation with nation.
Suffering, heartache, hopelessness- despair
Always there.
Life is so precious to us all, whoever we are,
Young, old, colour, class or creed,
And wherever we belong,
So, why, oh why is there unrest
The need to kill and to destroy?
There must be an answer – An understanding
But, where do we begin?
For, without a beginning, there will never be an end!
To succeed, we must try, and try again!
Reaching a final chapter – Peace
A peaceful world for our future generations
But without intelligent foresight.
Peace cannot, and will not, be found
Then this world will cease to exist-
The end of life as we know it-
For all .
