Our thanks to David Woollam for sending in these photos of The Flying Scotsman as it traveled on Wednesday afternoon from Crewe to Hereford via Nantwich and Whitchurch.

We are particularly glad that David did not suffer the fate of an intrepid photographer a couple of months ago when the Flying Scotsman re-ran its famous Kings Cross to Edinburgh run.

A photographer had stood by the East Coast line waiting for his shot and just as the Flying Scotsman went by a rather boring modern passenger train travelling in the opposite direction arrived at precisely the same moment, completely blocking his view but for a bit of steam.

Regular readers may remember that AudlemOnline's editor published earlier this year his memories of the Flying Scotsman from when he hired the engine and a full set of Brighton Belle carriages for a series of trips around the Cumbrian coast back in 1987.
