Geraldine Leighton sent in the account of her recent experience:
"We had a phone call recently and, a woman with an American accent explained that our internet connection would be closed sometime in the next 24 hours as it had been compromised by several countries. I can't remember the exact words she used but they implied that it was at risk and we would need to get new connection details.
She ended with asking us to press a key on our phone (I think this is what she said) to connect to a technician to carry out this procedure.
We put the phone down."
