Pets on BuySell

AudlemOnline has received an email from a regular reader saying:

"Good morning, I saw on BuySell a few days ago the advert for the two cats free to good home and my heart sank. I was reading an article recently recently and basically it was about people that purposefully look in local advertising and free papers for cats and dogs free to good homes, for use in dog baiting.

"Obviously AOL is comfortable putting adverts on buy sell for pets which is fine, but I just wondered whether it might be worth putting a few words of wisdom as a footnote? People are very trusting and it would be wise for them to make sure the pets go locally and that they visit the house where they are going to be re-homed to prior letting them go. A safer alternative might be a rescue centre, although they are bursting at the seams."

We are very happy to publish this as taking precautions such as making sure the pets are going to a good home is very sensible. The webteam will also discuss the issue at our next meeting.
