AudlemOnline is grateful to both David Higham and Mike Harthern for sending us this important information for anyone using Leighton Hospital. A letter from Leighton said:
We are writing to you to let you know that Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) will shortly be undertaking a significant refurbishment of one of its car parks at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.
The Main Entrance car park, situated off the Smithy Lane entrance to the site, will be closed from Monday, July 28th, to Monday, 8th September 2014, to allow for the improvement works to take place, including the creation of more disabled spaces, improved traffic flow and safer pedestrian access to and from the hospital buildings.
To accommodate the closure, estimated to last around six weeks, visitors will be redirected to the nearby staff car park located outside of the Maternity Unit. This will result in the total number of visitor spaces available during the works remaining the same as the current allocation.
Pedestrian access to the Main Entrance and Macmillan Cancer Unit will be maintained whilst the improvements are taking place, and clear signage will be on display advising visitors of the alternative routes.
The works have been scheduled to take place over the summer holiday period as this is when vehicle activity at Leighton Hospital is traditionally at its quietest.
Additionally, from Monday (July 28th), new extended visiting times for all adult inpatient wards are being introduced across the hospital, with visitors able to attend from 3pm until 8pm every day.
