Audlem Parish Council looks likely to turn down a request from Cheshire's Chief Constable to spend £11,000 a year, or half the parish precept, on a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). They heard a proposal from Strategic Community Support Officer, Jenny Ford, who said that the officer would be dedicated to the Audlem area. But councillors were unconvinced as to what would be gained for the money spent, especially since the Chief Constable was seeking a commitment to take on a PCSO for a minimum of 3 years.

The village already has a part-time PCSO based in Nantwich and no guarantee could be given that she, or local policeman Ken Maple, would remain if a full-time PCSO was based solely in the village.

If you have any comments on what is being proposed please send them to the webteam and they will be passed on to the Parish Council.
