Twelve members of groups run by Audlem and District Community Action were royally entertained last Saturday afternoon, when they attended the matinee performance of Cinderella by Audlem Theatre Company in the Town Hall.
They were treated to reserved seats on the front row and they arrived in style in the Overwater Wheelybus, which also delivered them back home after the show.
ADCA's Assistant Co-ordinator Lynn Morear said she was delighted at how accommodating Audlem Theatre Group had been. "They even arranged for the cast to stay in costume after the performance so that our members could have their photos taken with them. That was a lovely touch."
One of the ADCA members commented that the show was "Absolutely fantastic." She also said that, thanks to ADCA and the Overwater Wheelybus, she was able to come out to an event in the village and see people there that she wouldn't normally see, as she has no transport of her own.
ADCA's Tuesday Day Club meets in the Public Hall Annexe, with volunteer drivers enabling isolated and vulnerable older members of the community to come together to chat, enjoy a healthy lunch and benefit from some light exercise and games. The Friday Coffee Morning, also held in the Annexe, is an "open house" arrangement, with every first and third Friday also seeing a popular "Friday Fun" Games afternoon which has proved attractive to all ages.
