As the song goes, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

After the week Audlem has enjoyed in the limelight, it was hardly a surprise that so many turned out on a fine night for a highlight of the calendar, the ADAS Carols around the Big Tree.

The village looked a picture, illuminated by ADAS with 10,000 lights on almost sixty trees. At AudlemOnline we are particularly grateful to Phil Baker, the man who was responsible for fitting many of those lights, for the splendid photos seen here.

Do click on them to enjoy them to the full – and you will never believe it, but they were taken on his iPhone!

Bill Consterdine entertained splendidly between the carols and the Crewe Brass Band provided the music for the 27th consecutive year in Audlem.

Last year's very wet weather meant a new set of carol sheets was required which were much appreciated by all – particularly those whose knowledge of each carol extends only to the first line.

Santa made a welcome appearance distributing sweets to the many children while the Lord Combermere supplied huge numbers of cups of soup. Inevitably, the pub was rammed afterwards as doubtless the Bridge Inn and Shroppie Fly were too.

As ever, ADAS's arrangements were first class helping make this one of the best communal events of the year.
