Exciting new developments are taking place with the Overwater Wheelyboat.

At the Annual General Meeting on Thursday evening, Rodney Cottrell, chairman outlined their plans for the future. The Wheelyboat is to merge with a new Minibus service into what in future will be the Overwater Wheelyboat Services and charitable status is being sought which is expected to be complete in 12 weeks time. It is hoped this will enable access to funding for charitable organisations.

The more exciting development is the plan to purchase a minibus which will accommodate four people in wheelchairs with carers and or up to 12 people. Over £30000 will be needed to purchase the bus and will involve ongoing running costs. Some £18000 will have been raised by the end of February.

The local Charity "Belong" who care for people with dementia described how this would be a wonderful addition since they currently had no means of transporting patients to the wheelyboat for a much needed excursion.

Rodney went on to explain how the minibus would also be made available to local charity ADCA who at this time have no means to transport people who are wheelchair bound to the day club or coffee morning.

Although separate financially from the Audlem Lass, they often work together when parties of up to 20 who have full and limited mobility are accommodated.

Volunteers are very welcome to help with the Wheelyboat and now the Wheelybus services
