AudlemOnline has received the following email from Sally Ridley (nee Hicks) and a selection of photographs focussed on the Old Audlem Vicarage which we think will be of interest to many that remember the old building:

Thank you for your kind welcome at your shop (we have been told the shop was Williams' newsagents) and for encouraging me to send old photos.

  • My Christening in 1940, taken outside the vicarage with Mrs. Hicks (Vicar's wife) my mother Phyl Hicks, Dorothy (Brinton?) and my brother, Francis. My father, Ted, was a prisoner of war.
  • My grandfather F.E. Hicks
  • Ted and Phyl Hicks's Wedding 1936
  • The Old coach house off to the right of the old vicarage. My brother and I had fun playing with a swing in the "apple room" above, reached by outdoor steps to the right of the building. The front was cobbled and the archway on the left led through to the back of the building and the garden beyond. The latter was pointed and went as far as a stream, with fields beyond.
  • View of the house from the archway of the coach house.
  • My father, Ted Hicks, sketching on the edge of the vicarage lawn, after returning from the war, with his children, Francis and Sally Hicks.
