Official – Audlem is Cheshire Village of the Year

Audlem has won the title of Most Vibrant Village in Cheshire. The village also won Cheshire Village of the Year and the award for 'Building Community Life.' The awards were made by Cheshire Community Council at a ceremony held at Ellesmere Port Town Hall.

Audlem will now go on to the regional judging which involves a visit by the judges to the village on 17th October. If successful in that stage of the competition, the village would then be a contender for the national award of Village of the Year which is sponsored by Calor Gas.

The judges of the Cheshire competitions said they were particularly impressed by the major events organised by the village and how the money earned was then returned to village organisations and to provide new facilities. This helped build a real community spirit involving people of all ages.

Audlem Parish Council Chairman, Richard Furber, said, "These awards are a huge boost for the village. Audlem has made a name for itself in recent years with the big annual events. I would like to say a big thank you to the village organisations and all who have helped us gain this recognition."
