All residents are reminded that today is the last day to record their views about the Audlem Draft Neighbourhood Plan.
The next release of the Plan will be in a few weeks time when it will be sent to Cheshire East Council for formal and independent review. If this is successful then the final step is a Community Referendum.
The local council must organise a referendum on any plan that meets the basic standards. This ensures that the community has the final say on whether a neighbourhood plan comes into force. All residents who are registered to vote in local elections will be entitled to vote in the referendum. Should more than 50% of people voting support the plan, then the local planning authority must bring it into legal force.
Once a neighbourhood plan is in force it carries real legal weight. Decision makers are obliged to consider proposals for development with reference to the neighbourhood plan thus helping protect Audlem against unsuitable developments.
If you haven't yet had the chance to take a look at the plan and have an input, why not do it now – tomorrow will be too late.
