Norton in Hales Theatre Company performing in Market Drayton and Whitchurch

Owned and run by Hugo and Trudy Chandor, Freerange Theatre Company relocated to Norton in Hales from its roots in Lancashire almost two years ago.

As well as being a professional actor, Hugo is Artistic Director of Freerange and an experienced theatre director. Trudy recently retired from a long career in the NHS and has transferred her strategic and operational skills to her new role as Producer.

During 2012 they have re-invigorated Freerange from almost entirely playing to rural communities to include city centre audiences and nationally recognised Fringe events.

#New Play
Freerange is currently touring with a new play– Einstein’s Daughter by Rob Johnston, the talented Manchester playwright – which, in its simplest form, and without giving too much away, explores a father’s struggle to maintain calm in his daughter’s life when the return of an old friend threatens their domestic calm.

Rob is a professional colleague and personal friend of Hugo and Trudy and has worked with Hugo on several plays. A little while ago he wrote this three-handed play with Hugo in mind for the male role. Freerange, and Hugo, worked with Rob to trial and develop the play during 2010.

#Awards and Reviews
The success of this combination could not have been better as Einstein’s Daughter went on to win the prestigious King’s Cross Award for New Writing 2011.

Freerange’s current production of this powerful play swept the board with rave reviews at the Greater Manchester Fringe at the beginning of July 2012. It was recommended as ‘must see’ and nominated for Best Production, Best Actor and Best New Writing at the Buxton Fringe later that month.

#Local Performances
Freerange is performing this show at the Festival Drayton Centre on September 28th 2012 and The Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch on November 9th 2012.

Hugo and Trudy are very excited to have the opportunity of bringing this remarkable play to local people so if anyone would like to see Freerange in action, tickets are available from the venues (01630 654 444 for Festival Drayton tickets. 01948 660660 for The Talbot Theatre).

One word of caution – this play is only suitable for over 16s.

There’s more information about Freerange and the play at www.freerangetheatre.co.uk and also on Facebook.

Alternatively please feel free to give Hugo or Trudy a call on 01630 655366 if you’d prefer to chat.
