The Northern Belle

Jeanette Snape, who lives in Audlem, has taken over as managing director of one of the world's most luxurious trains – The Northern Belle.

Jeanette has plans to make the train even better, including introducing an on-board wine cellar in one of the seven carefully-restored 1930s Pullman carriages.

She has also arranged four excursions from Manchester and Crewe this summer hauled by the Flying Scotsman.

To ensure passengers get the best possible service, she is having all the train's liveried stewards trained to the same high standards as the Royal Family's butlers at Buckingham Palace.

"This is old-style travel the way it was meant to be – a time when getting somewhere could be as much fun, if not more, then actually arriving.

I fell in love with the train the first time I set eyes on it when I was interviewed for a job with the company at Manchester Victoria Station."

As well as the Flying Scotsman train the Northern Belle will make several other unforgettable trips from Crewe, Chester, Manchester and other nearby stations during 2019, including:

Valentine's and Mother's Day lunch specials, an all-day visit to the Chelsea Flower Show and a top hat and tails champagne excursion to Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot.
