The result of the European Parliamentary Election held on Thursday but with the results announced last night was:

Labour: 594,063 votes or 33.86% (+13.46). 3 MEPs elected an increase of 1
UKIP: 481,932 votes or 27.47% (+11.62). 3 MEPs elected an increase of 2
Conservative: 351,985 or 20.06% (-5.56) 2 MEPs elected, a reduction of 1
Green: 123,075 votes or 7.01% (-0.68) No MEPs elected
Liberal Democrat: 105,487 votes or 6.01% (-8.25) No MEPS elected
British National Party: 32,826 votes or 1.87% (-6.13) No MEPS elected, a reduction of 1.
An Independence From Europe : 26,731 votes or 1.52% (0.00) No MEP
English Democrats: 19,522 votes or 1.11% (-1.31) No MEP
Pirate Party: 8,597 votes or 0.49% (0.00) No MEP
NO2EU: 5,402 votes or 0.31% (-1.12) No MEP
Socialist Equality Party: 5,067 votes or 0.29% (0.00) No MEP

The following MEPS were elected to represent the North West of England:
Conservative: Jacqueline Foster
Conservative: Sajjad Karim
Labour: Theresa Griffin
Labour: Afzal Khan
Labour: Julie Ward
UKIP: Louise Bours
UKIP: Paul Nuttall
UKIP: Steven Woolfe
