News stories this morning

The editor apologises for the relative lack of stories this morning. After a two week break in Greece, he was meant to be returning to duty yesterday afternoon immediately on his return to Audlem.

Unfortunately, the omni-shambles of an organisation that now calls itself the Border Force at Manchester Airport meant very lengthy delays for thousands as the so-called technology for chipped passports was barely working – with many queueing wondering how much that innovation had cost – yet officials still ushered passengers towards the shiny broken machines and massive delays.

Regulars in the queue said it had been like that for months, if not years, and despite numerous complaints nothing ever happened and nobody seemed to care.

A much later arrival back home than planned – and a change of temper for the worse – should not knock a professional's enthusiasm but as he is, after all, only an amateur, it may be later this morning before normal service is resumed.

In the meantime, sincere thanks to the webteam members who have held the fort so well since the middle of the month.
