Royal message

Another busy week in school started with a lovely surprise delivery. We received a letter from Kensington Palace and a photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George to thank us for the signed copy of our book, 'Who Ate My Roof', which Sonia Kay sent to the Royal baby from all of the children at school. We were thrilled to receive such a special message and the children should are very proud to be 'authors to Royalty'!

Class activities

Amethyst class began a special project with a local artist on Monday, they created some wonderful designs for an outdoor mural to decorate their outdoor area. We were all very impressed with their super drawings and labels and can't wait to see the final piece come together!

Amethyst class also shared a wonderful class assembly with their families yesterday morning. I was delighted to see their confidence and enthusiasm for everything they have learnt. Their caterpillar song was a real highlight and it was super to see them teaching the audience the song and actions! Well done to Mrs Hayward, Mrs Spooner, Mrs Kay and all of Amethyst class for such a wonderful performance.

On Tuesday, Ruby class visited Whitchurch Tesco store where they learnt about where our food comes from, particularly the process for bringing fresh produce to the store. They also learnt about (and sampled) some of the different types of bread sold in the store. The children enjoyed sampling local cheeses and they were also able to hold mackerel and sardines at the fish counter! They arrived back in school clutching a goody bags, which included a recipe for baking bread which is perfect for their current topic looking at designing, baking and marketing their own bread.

Amber class also went on a trip to enhance their current topic this week. They visited Cardingmill Valley in Shropshire yesterday as part of their work on water. They took part in a River Study, measuring and recording the depth of the river at intervals. They also had to compare the flow of the river by timing how long it took a cork to float 10m downstream. After a picnic by the river, the children went for a guided walk up the valley where they explored ponds and the river's journey.

Thank you to FASA who contributed to the overall cost of this visit and to the parent helpers who accompanied both Amber and Ruby classes on their travels this week.

Skoolsfest

We will be delivering our artwork based on 'People of Nantwich' to the Nantwich Museum this weekend in time for our school to be represented in the special Skoolsfest exhibition which opens next Friday. The children have produced some wonderful pieces of work and I hope many of you are able to visit the exhibition which will be open until 12th July.

Congratulations to Ruby Youle who has successfully completed 10k on our Active Audlem circuit. Also to Charlotte Coburn and Emily Suggate who have successfully completed 20k. A great achievement, well done!

The evening will run from 5pm – 7.15pm with EYFS and Key Stage 1 children watching 'Frozen' (PG) and Key Stage 2 children watching 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2' (U). Both films will be shown at the same time and children will be able to buy hot dogs, drinks, crisps and sweets during the evening.

FASA are also busy preparing for our Summer Fair on Thursday 3rd July. They are planning a great variety of stalls and activities, including some of our children singing and sharing drama work.
