Showcasing Talents, Leadership and Super Skills!

We were treated to a wonderful festival of talent and skills last Saturday at the NEP's Second Skoolsfest.

Children from our school presented some fantastic drama work based on the history and stories of Audlem and we were well represented in the joint choir singing which was a super start to the day.

If you didn't get chance to see these contributions, our school's art work is still on display at the Nantwich Museum along with work from the other local schools. It makes for an eye-catching display! Many thanks to all of the staff, children and parents who worked so hard and supported this special event.

Members of our School Council presented a summary of their work this year to some of our Governors, as part of a Teaching and Learning committee meeting on Monday. The Governors present at the meeting commented on the children's confidence, enthusiasm and talent and I was tremendously proud of how well they did with this special task.

All of the Council members helped to write the presentation and it was remarkable to see just how much they have achieved in one school year. Well done to all of the School Council for making such a difference this year!

FASA Summer Fair

How wonderful it was to be blessed with a dry evening and even a little sunshine
for FASA's Summer Fair on Friday! This was another great event and it was lovely to see so many relatives and children joining in the fun. Many thanks to everyone who helped to set up, clear up and run the stalls and to all of the families who supported this important fund raising event.

Healthy Week

As part of our recent Healthy Week in school, we ran a special competition to design a Healthy Lunchbox. The winners were announced today, well done to Isabella Woods (Amethyst class), Harrison Saunders (Sapphire class) and Caitlin Burton (Diamond class) who were all worthy winners.

Active Audlem

We have had a busy week on the Active Audlem circuit this week! Congratulations to Emma Mansell and Tom Lancaster who achieved their 10k. Lilia Crowley who successfully completed 20k and Libby Rayne and Lizzie Edwards who have completed 30k. A great achievement, well done!

#ABC Childcare

With less than 3 weeks left of the academic school year, please let ABC know of your childcare requirements for September. Don't forget, their Nursery is available for children as young as 18 months.

Have you checked to see if you can get a free place for your 2 year old? The telephone number to check eligibility is 0300 123 5033. Please get in touch with Lynsey for further information 01270 669050.

I am also attaching an overview of ABC's Holiday Club provision held at their Crewe base over the Summer break for your information.

New Starters to School for September

We held our new starters evening for the parents of all of our new Reception children on Monday. Starting school is an exciting and emotional time for parents and children and we recognise it is valuable to be as prepared as possible for this big event. The Families in the Foundation Years website at: http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/parents/starting_primary_school
has several useful sections such as 'Starting School' and 'Getting to know your new school'. They outline helpful tips about first day nerves and supporting your child in the first few weeks. I hope parents find this information useful.

NUT/Unison Proposed Strike Action – Thursday 10th July

As you may be aware from the media, the NUT (National Union of Teachers) and UNISON are asking their members to strike on Thursday 10th July, continuing their dispute with the Government over pensions, pay and conditions.

A number of staff members in school are members of these unions. It is for each staff
member to make his / her decision whether or not to choose to strike and staff do not have to inform the Headteacher of their plans in advance.

I shall therefore write to you much nearer the time to confirm whether / to what extent our school might be affected by this action. In the event that we do need to close or partially close, our planned Move Up Sessions will be postponed until later in the term. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Opportunities that might be of interest to you

We currently have vacancies in school for casual middays. A casual midday is a member of the team that we can ring when one of our permanent team is unable to work. Casual vacancies can lead to more permanent vacancies either for 5 days per week or for 2-3 regular days per week. If this is of interest to you, please contact the school office for further details.

Uniform Update

Jean at 'School's In' has confirmed this week that our logoed uniform will be available to purchase from her Nantwich shop from August. The samples are due to be signed off before the Summer break and Jean will be updating the shop's Facebook page during the holidays as stock arrives.

Her contact number is 01270 629998 and her email contact is schoolsin@btconnect.com Please contact her prior to visiting the shop to confirm stock of our school's uniform has arrived.

Finally

You will have received the minutes of our most recent Parent Forum Meeting this week, along with our new menu for September. Thank you to all of the families who have returned slips indicating their intentions regarding their uptake of the Free School Meals offer for EYFS and Key Stage 1 children.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss the menu further please contact Mrs Hayward, our School Cook, or myself via the School Office and we will be happy to discuss this with you.
