I was extremely proud to return to Eddisbury for the Easter recess after the success of the Parliamentary Cheshire Food Day. This was a great event and did a lot to fly the flag for locally produced food.
Parliamentary recess is often a time for reflection upon the debates that have taken place, and indeed, the legislation that has been passed by the two chambers.
I am especially pleased that from the start of April, workers aged 25 and over and not in the first year of an apprenticeship have been legally entitled to at least £7.20 an hour under the National Living Wage. This is excellent news for workers across Eddisbury and I'm proud to be a part of a party that has delivered on this.
During recess I met with John Dwyer, Police and Crime Commissioner in Winsford where we held a street stall to discuss policing across Eddisbury. A recent inspection rated Cheshire's constabulary as outstanding, this is great news highlighting what a great team we have keeping Eddisbury safe.
Aside from my duties in the constituency, I was pleased to have the chance to comment upon some of the most pressing domestic issues of past weeks during my appearance on the most recent edition of Sunday Politics North West.
Upon returning to Westminster at the start of the week I met with Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. I raised a number of issues with him, including the possibility of financial penalty for developers who repeatedly submit irresponsible planning applications that directly contravene the neighbourhood plan of the area in question.
I also discussed the concerns I had over the Labour run Cheshire West and Chester Council's removal of the new homes bonus from towns and villages across Eddisbury. I will continue to campaign for the new homes bonus to be implemented across my constituency.
