New Audlem leaflet

Regular readers will recall that a series of bids were submitted in September for funding for a number of Parish Plan projects.

One is for funding from Cheshire East to print a tourism leaflet to promote Audlem and encourage visitors to the village and, hopefully, use the shops, pubs and cafés.

The good news is that the bid was successful and design work is now underway locally and at Delmar Press in Nantwich. Once printed, the leaflets will be displayed in Nantwich, Market Drayton, Whitchurch, at the Overwater Marina and locally.

With eight new shops opening in less than a year, and refurbishment work at the village's pubs and shops and a new Coffee Lounge at the marina, Audlem has been bucking the trend seen in all too many villages and market towns where shop closures and boarded up pubs have become all too common.

Most of those businesses need visitors to spend money as well as local trade, hence the new leaflet.

A second bid, for the printing of this year's Parish Plan was also successful. The draft Parish Plan is now available here on Audlem Online – please click on the link below the photo – or in printed form at the Post Office and Williams' newsagents. The draft has been published for consultation so that residents can comment before the final version is printed, with photographs and illustrations, in mid November.

A third bid is also underway with the Northern Marches LEADER fund for improvements to the towpath northwards from the village to the Overwater marina. More on this bid shortly.
