We are told that, based on fatalities while playing, Crown Green Bowls is the most dangerous sport in the world. With this statistic in mind, please read on....
Audlem Bowls Club has been awarded a Heart Defibrillator by the British Heart Foundation, with funding provided by the Department of Health. The defibrillator will be located on the external wall of the Heathfield Road Clubhouse, nearest the gate, and is intended for all in the community, not just bowlers. The defibrillator will be available at all times, 24 hours a day.
Andrew Icke will be conducting training for Bowls Club members and it is hoped that at least two members of each team will be trained in its use.
Details of Heartstart training courses available for the community will be advised when known.
So Bowls Club members can now approach those heart-stopping moments in the climaxes of tense bowls matches knowing that if the worst happens, help is to hand.
