The power outage yesterday did not just occur at the Posh end and the East end of the village, but also in the Middle Class area.
The lady of the house was partaking of a shower from an electric pump and lighting when she was plunged into darkness and soaking wet. I was about to dive in to rescue her when the power returned – for which she said she will be eternally grateful! Outrageous.
Meanwhile our power systems correspondent, Mike Harthern, has contacted Scottish Power. There was apparently a fault on the 11000 volts network caused by a tree branch, and the network automatically rerouted itself.
Tree branches are a major problem at this time of year and the tree lopping team are very busy in the area clearing lines. Where there are continuous problems, bare conductors are being slowly replaced by insulated ones.Hope this is not like leaves on railway lines in the Autumn.!
Mike Harthern has just reported a badly damaged 33,000v section pole caused by a woodpecker carving a large hole in the top of the pole!
