More on last week's Marathon (Update)

A week ago today, Audlem's participants in the London Marathon were getting ready for one of the most gruelling physical tests of their lives. All were running for a charity of their choice and you can still donate.

We are delighted to bring you some of the photos at the finish. In the top shot, Georgina Allman was running to raise money for Arthritis Research UK, a charity that is very close to her heart. You can donate and read more about Georgie on her dedicated donation page, here. Georgina completed the course in 4hr 58mins, a great performance.

Audlem resident Ceri Parsons was running to help Scotland's animal welfare charity who do vital work in ensuring the welfare of Scotland's neglected and abandoned animals. To sponsor Ceri please visit here. Ceri completed the run in 5hr 38 min. It was her first ever marathon.

Louise Worthington ran the London marathon for Sense, a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. Please visit here to sponsor her. Louise managed it in 3hr 37 mins, – a very fast time indeed!

For Team Rounding it was run run run! Sarah and Claire Rounding are in our second photo enjoying that vital post-race re-hydration. After years of attempting to gain entry to this event and enviously looking-on from behind the barriers, they finally bit the bullet and ran the 26 miles raising money for WellChild, the national charity for sick children.

They work to provide essential practical and emotional support for seriously ill children, young people and those who care for them across the UK. All donations will go directly to supporting such families.To support Team Rounding click here.

Claire finished in 3hours 49mins and Sarah in 4hours 06mins. Sponsorship money continues to come in and so far they have raised over £2,600 (including Gift Aid) for Well Child. Sarah and Claire, we are told, were pleased to hang up their running shoes this week but are already thinking about their next challenge!

Charlie Hufton, Shelagh & Barrie's daughter, seen here in our third photo, was running for the RNIB. Her boyfriend's grandpa lives in Bristol and Charlie visits him regularly. He has been blind for 30 years and so the RNIB is a charity that is close to her heart. Her link to the justgiving website is here.
