As an indication of the tactics being used by Gladman Developments to get planning approval, in Ryedale Gladman has gone straight to appeal and Public Inquiry because the District Council there failed to handle their planning application within the deadline.
Further details are in the letter to the right which you will need to click on to read properly. The report we have received says:
Gladman housing proposal to go to Public Inquiry
The proposal to build 210+ houses and 50 apartments on a greenfield site on the outskirts of Kirkbymoorside looks like it will be decided by a Public Inquiry.
As this letter outlines the failure of the Local Planning Authority (Ryedale District Council) to decide within the appropriate period has meant it will go to the Secretary of State for the Environment.
As one local resident has already said, at the public consultation Gladman representatives indicated they rarely lose at such inquiries so those against the development will doubtless be fearful of the outcome.
The letter is from Ryedale District Council to a local resident concerning the Gladman Housing Development.
A request has been sent to the Planning Department to provide a written response outlining why they failed to meet the required deadline.
