It's been a remarkable couple of weeks since the Amazing Grace DVD for Mend our Mum first went live.

An amazing £75,000 plus has now been raised – and it could even be considerably higher with the donations and DVD sales coming in – meaning the target of £100,000 is in sight.

Yesterday, Mark Edwardson, the BBC News broadcaster who covered the launch party on 11th December – seen to the right in the second photo – returned to Audlem to get an update on progress.

Depending on other news breaking, that could go out on BBC1 North West Tonight at 6.30pm onwards this evening and possibly on the later news at around 10.25pm.

There are many heartwarming stories. The bucket in the Village Chippy – the staff wanted to donate their Christmas tips to the fund – has now been cashed up by Ralph Warburton. Including DVD sales there, it came to grand sum of £182.34.

George in the Chippy, as we have already reported, received a phone call from his Uncle Kosta in Cyprus saying he had seen George on TV over there.

A German gentleman passing through the village, we are told, donated £30 to the cause. A lovely gesture which was left in Williams' newsagents shop.

Messages of support have been coming in from Canada after the story appeared on Canadian TV news.

Ralph Warburton says: "We went live on social media on the 10th December, DVDs were burned and put on sale by the 11th.

"A fine Auction & quiz night brought in extra funds in a record night of good results.

"Then was unleashed a truly wonderful cornucopia of Media interest as we were given masses of air time on BBC North West, BBC Breakfast, ITV Good Morning Britain, Granada News, BBC European, BBC Radio Stoke, Radio Shropshire and Signal Radio plus superb press coverage including a double page spread in the Daily Express. It was even on Canadian News TV too.

"Yesterday, I banked £8013 at the RSB bank in Nantwich, the result to date of the Auction and of DVD sales. A superb total and one for which thanks must go to all who gave so very kindly and have added to the fund.

"What a great two weeks this has been."

And don't forget, Berni, Colin, Hannah and Terri Cliffe will be in the Public Hall this evening from 8.00 – 10.00pm if anyone wishes to pop in for a "Thank You'" drink for everyone who have done so much to help the Mend our Mum cause.
