Following consultation with residents, Audlem Parish Council objected to the planning application lodged by McCarthy & Stone to build retirement apartments north of Little Heath Barns. Unfortunately, Cheshire East Council did not make a decision on the application within the permitted timeframe so McCarthy & Stone lodged an Appeal on the grounds of 'non-determination'.

Details of their Appeal can now be found on the Cheshire East Council website : here.

Even though an Appeal had been lodged the Southern Planning Committee still had to make a decision as to whether it would approve or refuse the application. Accordingly, on 9th August Committee members decided they were 'minded to refuse' the proposed development as McCarthy & Stone were not providing any affordable housing. They had, instead, offered to make a contribution of £250,000 towards affordable housing in the area.

However, an independent report carried out on the Council's behalf concluded that a sum of £586,000 was an appropriate amount.

If anyone wishes to make comments on the Appeal they must submit them by 20 December 2017.

The Planning Inspectorate's Guide on how to do so is here.

The easiest way to comment is through the 'Representations' button on the Case Details which can be found here.
