Detectives investigating the death of a man in Audlem have charged a 23-year-old man with manslaughter.

Samuel Thorpe, of Annions Lane in Wybunbury, is due to appear before Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 20 December.

He was charged on Wednesday 21 November and has been conditionally bailed.

A summons has been issued to a 35-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident. He will appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 20 December in relation to assisting an offender.

Two other people were also arrested in connection with the incident.

A 44-year-old man from Market Drayton has been given a conditional caution for a public order offence. No further action is being taken against a 58-year-old woman from Market Drayton, who (was) arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The charges relate to an incident on Friday 25 May on Shropshire Street in Audlem where a 45-year-old man was found with serious injuries. The man – Adam Lovatt – was taken to the Royal Stoke hospital where he died.
