Local author Dinah Andrew has just published an illustrated autobiography of Stapleton Cotton, Field-Marshall Viscount Combermere of Bhurtpore, who died in 1865.

Dinah's book results from many years of research, and is an in-depth account of a major local personality, who to many is perhaps better known for the pubs named after him – the Lord Combermere in Audlem, the Combermere Arms at Burleydam, the Bhurtpore Inn at Aston, and the Cotton Arms in Wrenbury.

Find out why they were. "The Cheshire Hero" is a fascinating book, ideal as a Christmas gift. It is available at £7.50 from Audlem Mill and Williams' newsagents.
