The Lord Combermere pub has seen the threat of a ban on outdoor music events lifted.

The pub won planning permission to replace timber windows and build a slate roof canopy over the outdoor smokers' area but consent included a condition that banned the playing of live or recorded music outside at any time.

The pub asked for the condition to be lifted as the pub was a popular venue for outdoor bands particularly during the annual Audlem Music Festival.

Council environmental officers said they have no objection to lifting the ban as noise and music was already regulated under existing laws.

Audlem Parish Council said they full supported the lifting of the condition and a further letter of support was received from the occupier of Number 1 Shropshire Street (Williams' newsagents).

Cheshire East councillors were told the pub already requires a temporary event notice license for outdoor music events anyway.

The conditional ban was lifted after a planning officer's report advised: "The proposed deletion of the condition which removed the applicant's ability to hold live music festivals and have music on outside, is considered to be acceptable."
