AudlemOnline MP Seeks Answers Over Former Grammar School Site

Chester South and Eddisbury MP Aphra Brandreth has pledged to seek further clarification from Cheshire East Council and the Home Office following concerns raised about the future of the former Grammar School site in Audlem.

During a recent advice surgery in the village with Cllr Rachel Bailey, a number of residents raised questions about rumours surrounding the site's future use and ongoing works being carried out there.

Mrs Brandreth said that, based on the information currently available, there is no indication from either Cheshire East Council or the police that the site is being, or is due to be, used for asylum accommodation.

Despite this, Mrs Brandreth said she understood why residents wanted clear answers and had therefore written to Cheshire East Council seeking further clarification on the planning status of the site.

She is also contacting the Home Office and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to establish whether there are any proposals relating to asylum accommodation in the area.

Alongside these enquiries, residents are being encouraged to continue reporting any suspected planning or environmental issues. Anyone who believes there have been planning breaches, damage to protected trees or hedgerows, or environmental issues such as bonfires or smoke should report them to Cheshire East Council so they can be investigated through the appropriate enforcement processes.

Mrs Brandreth said: I know there is a great deal of concern locally, and I completely understand why residents want clear answers. It's really important that we establish the facts.

I will continue working with Cheshire East Council, the Home Office and local partners to seek clarification and keep residents updated as further information becomes available.

Mrs Brandreth said she will share any updates with Audlem Parish Council, Cllr Rachel Bailey and local residents as soon as further information is received.
