Conwy to Llanfaifechan

Meet Audlem car park to leave at 8am.

The walk is 8.5 miles with a total of about 2200ft of ascent, returning by train..
The path is a major route, so well defined – there are few stiles as we are mainly on open moorland, so quite dog friendly with the obvious potential constraints of nesting birds and sheep.

We will park in Conwy at the Morfa Bach public car park. Its close to the castle and station – the postcode LL32 8FZ will take you past the carpark having left the A55 at junction 18. It will cost £4.50 for 10 hrs and has a cafe and loos.

We walk a little way through the streets of Conwy to join the North Wales Path and ascend Conwy Mountain (Mynydd y Dref), a steady ascent up to about 800ft.

After this the path stays mainly high rising to a maximum height of 1280ft. There are a few ups and downs, but mainly fairly gentle with splendid views. Hopefully the Ice Cream van will be there when we cross the road after 3 miles. The path goes past several stone circles. Eventually the paths descends down via a long, fairly steep lane into Llanfaifechan so as to catch the 16.09 back to Conwy – cost is £5.10 or £3.35 with a railcard. The motivation for getting to Llanfairfechan quickly is that there is a decent pub on the way to the station!

We will be back in the Morfa Bach car park for 4.30.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
