After all the interest in the Audlem Vote Poll, today it's more serious voting with the local elections.

As previously explained by Audlem Online, the new council of Cheshire East comes into being on April 1st 2009. Voters today will be able to elect the three councillors for the new council. Initially constituencies will mirror those of Cheshire County Council. Audlem is currently in the Cholmondley constituency, although a complete review of constituencies will take place during the first years of the council's life.

There are 6 candidates for the 3 posts. They are: Rachel Anne Bailey, Margaret Amy Hollins and Allan Richardson (Conservative); Thomas Robert Dunlop and Natalie Lara Kent (Labour) and Richard William Fox (Liberal Democrat).

Voting for Audlem residents is in the Public Hall today, Thursday 1st May. Polling hours are between 7.00 am and 10.00 pm.

An Audlem Online reporter will be at the count and we hope to be the first with the local result on Friday morning.
