The cockatoo, which has attracted so much attention in the past week, has been seen a number of times last night and this morning on the west side of the village.

Heather Jones writes: "He is back again and clearly hungry. He has worked out how to tilt the feeder but there is not much food left in it. I daren't go out in case he is scared away, some food being better than none."

The photograph was taken yesterday in Heather Jones' garden so the cockatoo is clearly finding its way back to food sources.

Yesterday evening, at about 6.15pm, it landed in an oak tree in AudlemOnline Gardens. An interview was attempted but your reporter was met with a very loud screeching sound which went on for five minutes or so, to the amazement of neighbours. Maybe the bird is a male and didn't like being called Polly.

We have been sent a report from the Sentinel last month where fire fighters rescued an escaped bird described as a yellow and white cockatiel. That is the smallest of the 21-species that belong to the cockatoo family and the Audlem bird is much larger and is probably a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, a native of Australia.

They are found in the major cities there, mainly on the east coast, but have spread to Perth in Western Australia and as far as Singapore and New Zealand.
