King of the checkouts

Congratulations to Phil Johnson who has won an award as Customers Colleague of the year at Sainsbury's Nantwich store.

Phil was presented with the accolade at the Sainsbury's Northern Region Awards held at the Lion Quays Hotel in Oswestry, after being chosen out of 6,000 employees.

PR assistant Olwyn Payton said that Phil was the only person surprised that he had won the award – he is valued by both customers and colleagues alike for his charm, courtesy and dedication to customer service.

Apparently, the next step is the National finals in London, and then presumably the World Cup.

Our photo (from the Nantwich Chronicle) shows Phil with two customers, Wendy Fry and Ann Wilson. We are not quite sure why the sign "fireworks" is pointing to Phil's right ear.

Phil is also a Parish Councillor on Audlem Parish Council.
