Each month, the AudlemOnline team sends a 500-word article about the village to the publishers of the Whitchurch Gossip and Market Drayton Gossip magazines.

These excellent publications are widely (and freely) distributed in North Shropshire and many in Audlem see a copy, particularly of the Whitchurch magazine. Many of our readers, however, are outside their distribution area.

We thought you might like to read what we said about the village this month in the June
issues. July's article will feature the Transport Festival and Gathering of Historic Narrow Boats:

Festivals and Party Time in Audlem

Audlem has just enjoyed two weekends of Festivals in a row. Most villages, indeed towns and cities, are content with one – but not Audlem, where a Summer of great Events is now well underway.

The late-May Bank Holiday saw five days of music, art and poetry and a packed village for the Audlem Festival. Over eighty bands, choirs and soloists entertained amazed crowds, wondering how a small south Cheshire village can attract so much talent.

It was all summed up by top Manchester group, The Rainband, who said they just love coming back, year after year. And that's a band that's playing top venues through Europe for much of the year: Cannes, Lyons, Rome, Pisa, Audlem, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, reads their list of recent venues.

The Poetry Slam has become an established event at the Festival with performance poets battling it out in a packed Bridge Inn. And art features strongly too with highly accomplished visiting and local artists showing their work.

The following weekend, at the start of June, it was the turn of the RNLI Festival at Overwater Marina, just a mile north of Audlem. This beautiful venue saw the Raft Race and a Tug of war, Irish dance, music from Audlem bands and California Blue, Cowboy fun, police divers, narrow boat handling sessions, course fishing lessons and much more with BBQs and activities for all the family.

Next up is one of biggest events in the Audlem calendar, Party on the Park on Saturday 5th July. Last year's was an amazing packed night of great music, playing to a full house on the playing field, finished off with a spectacular firework display.

In the Party Mood? If you've not got your tickets for the next big Party in the Audlem calendar then you need to get moving. The Party on the Park is just weeks away! This year there will be three fabulous acts to entertain the crowd, with music to appeal to young and old. If ever there was a night to bring all your family and friends together to party, this is it!

Warming up the crowd will be local band Gambler'. Next up will be cover band 'Only One Direction'. Do they really need any introduction?

Topping the bill is 'The Legends' brought to you by The Tribute Show. This is a 10 piece act like no other, showcasing the very best 'legendary' artists from the rock and pop hall of fame over the past few decades, including the likes of Kylie to Madness. Bring your picnic and enjoy!

One way or another, organisers ASET (Audlem Special Events Team) say they'll have you 'Spinning Around'!

Tickets are on sale now at Audlem Post Office (opening hours only) and online at www.audlem-aset.org
