Regular readers will recall that amongst the flurry of announcements made at the beginning of April was the plan to hold a very special rally in Audlem this Autumn. Audlem Online has now received an update from the Rally's spokesperson Poled Ancer. She says: "I have recently been informed by 'The Powers that be', that if Audlem is successful in its bid to join Wales, then an Eisteddfod to celebrate the occasion could well be held on the same weekend as we were planning to hold our Juggernaut Rally.

"It is therefore with regret that the committee has decided to cancel its plans for Audlem and move the Rally elsewhere. We send our apologies to all who have shown interest and in particular would like to thank your 'Little Buddie', Ned Clarkson, for his enthusiasm.

"Alternative venues are currently being sought and, as we liked Ned's idea of holding some form of street trials/drag racing, we are considering the Isle of Man and Monty (sic) Carlo where public roads are regularly used for racing. As you may expect Monty Carlo is taking preference and discussions with the organisers of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix are about to take place. Once again many thanks for your support over the last few weeks."

On the subject of Wales, Audlem Online yesterday received a message from Dave Martin in Malawi. It said: "Hi folks: we (Nessa & myself) are on holiday in Malawi (Central Africa). We thought you'd like to know that the fame of Audlem has even reached this far-flung part of the world. Got off the plane at Lilongwe, picked up an International Express (worldwide Daily Express), and here on page 3 (say no more!) is a picture of Audlem church with "Jenny Evans" holding a Welsh flag! Obviously Judy became Jenny in the translation! No doubt same article as appeared in UK, with quotes from Bob Cartwright. Quarter of a page exposure for Audlem in deepest Africa: that's real fame!

Hope the Music & Arts Festival goes well: might even get a visit from some African drummers after this publicity!"

Many thanks, Dave. The message is now also posted on the Guestbook.
