Residents at Corbrook and Cedar Court treated to some Irish Charm

Residents at Corbrook and Cedar Court Nursing Homes in Audlem were treated to a rare visit from the Royal Irish Regiment, enjoying a talk from Major Hugh Benson MBE and Ranger Joel Evangeliste and the chance to meet their cute companion, Finn the Irish wolfhound.

Organised by Home Manager Carolyn Farmer, the day saw both taking the time to speak to residents in the lounge, look through old photos from the D-Day landings and discuss both the wars as many of those living in the home were affected or even served.

Afterwards, Hugh and Joel also took a stroll around the gardens with some of the residents, enjoying a bit of sunshine and stretching out Finn's legs.

Carolyn said: "We had a great day welcoming Hugh, Joel and Finn into the home. All of our residents were over the moon to meet and make a fuss over Finn the wolfhound.

It was so interesting hearing some of the stories that were discussed because you begin to realise just how much of an impact the war had on everyone and how important the job of our military personnel is.

"Visits such as this play an integral role in stimulating our residents and engaging them in an interesting topic. It allows them to share their memories and reflect on significant moments in their lives as well as give residents the chance to meet new people and socialise.

"We would like to thank the Royal Irish Regiment for coming and making it such an enjoyable day for everyone. All of our residents have been talking about their visitors since then, so it is clear that they made a lasting impression."

Corbrook and Cedar Court both have a programme of social activities run by dedicated Social Life Coordinators, they are situated in the village of Audlem and offer quality premium care in an exquisite country setting, right amongst the vibrant local community.
