North West Film Archive and AGM

Tomorrow night's meeting will feature a selection of short films from the North West Film Archive at Manchester Metropolitan University. The common theme is Cheshire, but the subjects vary widely. Two documentaries made during world war two show agriculture and life on the farm and an amusing study of a primary school. Beautiful films about the Weaver Navigation and the river Mersey, from its source near the Cat and Fiddle to the Irish Sea, show how much the landscape changed in the second half of the 20th century. Light entertainment comes in the form of newsreel footage of a Cheshire Hunt meet on Nantwich square in 1928 and a funny, part-animated film about soap, from about 1920.

The film show will be preceded by the AGM, which should be brief, in the best traditions of the History Society!

As ever, all are welcome. If you're not a member, please come along as a visitor, without obligation. You'll find an informal, relaxed atmosphere and we hope you'll enjoy an interesting and informative evening.

Meetings take place in the Scout and Guide Hall in Cheshire Street and start at 7.30pm.
