Highs and Lows – a poem

I'm having a "Feel sorry for myself" day
Why? I have no idea
Maybe I'm just a bit lonesome
Without that special someone.

I see couples, hand in hand.
I sigh, and wish
I had a hand to hold
But I'm old, and "past it"
I've had my day.

I do get a hand to hold
When I need one – a hand of help.

Old age has a downside
But there's a lot to be thankful for
We OAPS can re-enact and re-live our lives
At least – the bits we can remember!

Keep going is my motto
Plan for a future. Look ahead.

My mind and my body
Don't always agree with each other
But. I just go with the flow
I'm me, and I hope to last
A while longer!!
