High time to ADAPT – 10 yrs 2009 to 2019

Are you trying to do your bit to preserve our living planet for future generations? Exploring alternatives to single-use plastics? Creating wildlife habitats to prevent species extinction? Reviving home economy skills to make more and buy less? Reducing, reusing and recycling to the max? Minimising your carbon footprint around the home and when you travel to prevent global warming? Signing petitions or participating in campaigns to influence policy on these and similar issues?

Ten years ago, in 2009, it was a common interest in such diverse activities that motivated a group of people from Audlem, Hankelow and Buerton to form ADAPT (Audlem & District Acting Positively for Transition) and find ways to enjoy living well today while safeguarding the future. The Transition Towns movement provided inspiration.

Today ADAPT has five action and interest groups: Food, Lock 15 Gardeners, Community Woodland, Transport, and Energy. The way it works is that anyone with ideas about ways to enjoy living well today while safeguarding the future may set up a group under the ADAPT umbrella. Our community is growing and ADAPT extends a warm welcome to residents in the new houses who share our interests. Feel free to either join an existing group or set up a new one!

The last year has seen stark warnings about the threats to our living planet posed by global warming, species extinction, air and water pollution, and natural resources depletion. It's high time to ADAPT!
