Further information on yet another accident at the now infamous Hatherton bends which resulted in a Peugeot car being flipped over yesterday – see reports on AudlemOnline.

We are told that a water burst has been causing problems at that location for a couple of days turning the road into a sheet of ice when the temperatures dip so worth taking even more than usual care through that stretch of road.

Angie wrote on Chatbox yesterday evening: "I drove along this road at around 8 a.m this morning and thought the surface was particularly dangerous. There was not only water along the side of the road, but also what looked like mud all over the road, both of which were frozen.

"I know the road is gritted, however it didn't seem to have worked well, as my car was sliding and not gripping well and I was driving at less than 30 mph on the bends."

We understand that the police were on the scene yesterday – although a number of Audlem residents were directing traffic after the accident until their arrival – and have also been contacted by the head at Audlem St James' school about the ice problem as a member of staff at the school was involved in the accident.
