Audlem residents attempting to redress the balance following the gluttony of Christmas, may be interested in two free events being organised by Cheshire East's Countryside Ranger Service.
Details of both events can be found below along with links to a website called Eventbrite where you can sign up.
1: Ramble with the Rangers – on Saturday, January 17
Join East Cheshire Ramblers and Cheshire East ranger Martin James for a circular 10km (6.5 mile) guided walk exploring the footpaths around Macclesfield Forest while looking out for signs of wildlife. Booking in advance is essential.
2: Nordic walking taster session – Poynton, on Sunday, January 25
Nordic walking is the fastest growing fitness activity in the world with over 10 million enthusiasts now regularly taking part in what started as a way for super-fit cross-country skiers to stay fit during the summer.
However, it is not simply a case of grabbing a pair of poles and walking with them! It requires the correct technique in order to get the whole body working and it is essential you learn this from a qualified instructor who will ensure you get the full benefit and fastest possible results.
This taster outing is a free introductory session, where you will get to try out the poles and the technique. It will be led by a qualified instructor from the Everybody Nordic walking programme. Booking in advance is essential.
